3. Résumé

«Participation and the reconstruction of meaning represent the two foundations of the qualitative methodologies which contribute here to our understanding of intergenerational relations in migration. We can thus speak of collaborative and/or participative research. This can be presented in several forms which result in different models: joint research, networking, action research, training research or critical advocacy research. It is always characterized by a knowledge production process carried out in collaboration with the actors in the field. […] These different types of collaborative research address the generations in migration in different ways, thus enabling a comprehensive, in-depth portrait to be drawn up which is relevant to the topic of the research, acknowledges the different meanings given to their experiences by the actors concerned, and is liberating. […] Participation, meaning, narration and history represent the foundations of our methodological perspective, the combination of which enables us to approach intergenerational interactions within migration through the life-courses of all the people involved. Thus it is through integrating these participatory qualitative methodological approaches and developing modeling approaches that the researchers can associate them with quantitative approaches, the purpose of which is to draw up an evolving portrait of intergenerational relations, for example on the cohorts of migrant pupils or on transnational networks.» (p. 191-192)

«Ce chapitre a deux objectifs. Le premier est de problématiser les situations dans lesquelles des professionnels rencontrent des parents pour analyser les besoins développementaux de leurs enfants. Il s’agit de relever et de décrire les principaux éléments qui posent problème quant à la participation des parents. L’autre objectif consiste à présenter un cadre de pratique à l’intérieur duquel les défis soulevés à partir du point de vue des parents sont abordés directement.» (p. 158)

3. Résumé

«En étudiant le thème de la participation des parents et des enfants aux services qu’ils reçoivent, ce chapitre met en relief, d’une manière générale, les défis cliniques et éthiques rattachés à la présence d’intervenants dans leur vie familiale. Il montre la complexité d’une démarche qui a pour but d’amener le professionnel à comprendre une famille et à intervenir auprès d’elle tout en étant sensible aux effets négatifs que peut entraîner cette présence.» (p. 158) Le cadre de pratique proposé à l’intervenant repose «sur une approche participative qui vise à aider les parents à explorer leurs expériences personnelles en relations avec leurs enfants et, partant de ce qu’ils connaissent et qui leur est familier, à découvrir ce qu’ils peuvent connaître à propos de leurs enfants et d’eux-mêmes.» (p. 158)
