« Mothering Canada: Interdisciplinary Voices / La maternité au Canada : Voix interdisciplinaires provides a set of academic and non-academic written and visual works that focus on, and celebrate, the variety and diversity (including bilingualism, aboriginal culture, queer and immigrant experiences) that is Canada. The anthology introduces areas of mothering that are under-represented in the current literature and practice, and suggest new areas of research. This volume acts as an effective and informative textbook for courses in several academic disciplines including Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Women’s and Gender Studies, Human Justice, Education, and Health Sciences. The text also provides a resource for students seeking careers in areas such as counselling, nursing, health care, midwifery, and women and children’s advocacy, as well as being of interest to a larger audience - mothers. » (p. 3) The book is divided in four sections: Becoming, Connecting, Challenging and Supporting.
