3. Résumé

« Palliative care services for children with life-threatening diseases and their families have been developing since the late 1970s, and it has become clear that home care is a choice that many families prefer. Early programs offered help particularly top cancer patients (1-4), but some were also available for children with non-malignant diseases and their families. Although the broad principles and philosophy of care are common for all children, many of the specific aspects differ and are influenced considerably by the diagnosis and natural history of the child’s illness as well as by the individual’s family’s personality and coping style. » (p. 33)
