3. Résumé

In this article, the author analyses Gabrielle Poulin’s entire corpus in order to demonstrate how her six novels document the multiple changes that occurred in Quebec regarding the maternal figure. The author addresses different questions such as sexuality, liberty, religion and mother-daughter/mother-son relationships. She concludes that : « In Poulin’s post-Quiet Revolution world, the traditional Catholic ideals of womanhood that once dominated Quebec society give way to a more holistic model in which women are free to follow their own desire as mothers, lovers daughters and to transmit their stories from generation to generation as liberating force. » (p. 137)
