It aims to offer more insight into underlying mechanisms that are often implicit but can be important factors that positively or negatively influence educational trajectories and outcomes.» (p. 6)

3. Résumé

«This book is divided in four parts. The first part focuses on ''Values, relationships and institutions in a context of diversity'' and discusses the vertical transmission of values over generations […] or the horizontal transmission of values between peers. […] The second part of the book focuses more concretely on the ''Educational pathways'' of immigrant youngsters. […] The third part of the book redirects its attention towards the meso-level factors and contexts of ''Peers, family and community'' that influence educational trajectories. […] The fourth and final part of the book discusses the ''Social, systemic and school dynamics'' and zooms in on several specific processes emerging in and across the different contexts discussed […].» (p. 4-5)
