3. Résumé
«Understanding of victim preferences is critical for informed decision making about how to respond to domestic violence. With this knowledge, we can develop responses that meet the victim’s needs. The problem of victim cooperation illustrates that traditional criminal justice responses often do not meet those needs. Forcing a victim’s cooperation through mandatory policies only exacerbates the problem. Instead we must develop methods that are responsive to victims’ needs. Restorative justice programs, if properly organized, can offer victims a range of choices and support them in their effort to regain control over their lives.» (p. 504) À noter que les deux auteures sont québécoises.
