3. Résumé

«The focus on school readiness is intended to unite the burgeoning scientific evidence about the factors and conditions under which early learning takes place and how optimal early development can be fostered by appropriate services and programs.» (p. xii) «The book identifies the cognitive, language, behavioral, motor, and social-emotional skills that enable young children to function successfully in school contexts. It presents compelling longitudinal findings on the benefits of early programs and interventions for preschoolers at risk due to poverty and other factors. It explores specific ways in which school- and family-based interventions – including programs that target reading and language, math, self-regulation, and social-emotional development – can contribute to school readiness.» (p. xii)
