3. Résumé


«This chapter examines the results of the survey that was administered to the Secondary 3 students at Schools A and B.» (p. 29) Among other variables, family background (e.g., parents’ place of birth, parents’ first language, languages spoken at work by parents) and languages spoken in the home (i.e., with mother, father and siblings) were measured. Their influence on the identity construction process is then discussed. For example, «[a] bilingual [vs. trilingual] identity is more prevalent in the discourse of students attending School A. [This can be partly explained by the fact that] many students enrolled in this school live in exogamous families, where one of the parents is Francophone.»
